I would like to address something that I see every day in photos. Some people call it the "tongue jam." You pose for the camera and pretend that you are so delighted that your tongue has involuntarily jutted between your front teeth as you giggle.
Resist the urge. You are not fooling anyone. And as trendy poses go, this one is not even flattering.
If I haven’t convinced you yet, here are 3 more reasons to keep it behind the teeth.
- It ruins your smile and it ruins your picture. It draws the focus to your mouth, but not in a good way. No one wants to see your tongue.
- It ages you. If you are over the age of 50, you look doubly silly as you are now chasing silly childish trends. We know that you haven’t smiled that way your entire life and you are making yourself look older by doing it now.
- You are disrespecting your mother! How many times did she tell you not to stick out your tongue?
So unless you are a frog poised to strike, keep the tongue behind the teeth! And if I am your photographer, I will tell you, nothing happens, until you do so!
