My friend, Pam, bought a good camera about five years ago. Her eye for beautiful composition was immediately apparent from the photos she posted on social media. When I saw her next, she and I had an exciting conversation about what we were photographing and how the very act of photography fed our souls. But then, she asked, “but what are we going to do with ALL THESE PICTURES?” Keep in mind, she had been shooting digitally for only about a year.
What are we going to do with all these pictures? Do you ever delete any of them? Do you post the best ones to social media? Do you ever print them?
I challenge you to consider Pam’s question and take three steps to elevate the importance and impact of your photographs. First step is to delete the duds, immediately! Second step is to print those which make your heart sing. Third, hang them up, display them on your desks or over your mantle where you can see them every day. Treat the photos of the people and the moments that you treasure with respect and you will be inspired daily. Your photos will take on a new meaning and a new purpose, beyond gaining “likes” or gathering digital dust! Shoot on!
